Throughout the academic year, the Office of Academic Affairs sponsors a number of brown bags, workshops and other programs to assist new UC Davis faculty in their professional development.
New Faculty Workshop
The New Faculty Workshop is offered in the Fall Quarter of every year. It consists of a day-long annual overview and orientation for the new faculty. This day-long session includes a continental breakfast and lunch, and provides an overview and orientation to topics and resources related to building a successful academic career:
- Personnel process
- Dossier evaluation
- Shared governance
- Advice from recently-tenured faculty
- Faculty Code of Conduct / Work Life Policies
New Faculty Brown Bag Series
New Faculty Brown Bags are monthly topical lectures for new faculty designed to assist new faculty with their orientation to the campus and to provide them with useful information to assist in their success. Topics include:
- Orientation to the Office of Research
- Grantsmanship
- Preparing Your Dossier
