Resources for Dual-Career Faculty

The decision to join the faculty at UC Davis can depend on the availability of career opportunities for a spouse or partner.  UC Davis is committed to helping to identify employment opportunities for the partners of new faculty recruits. The following are resources that may be helpful for search committee chairs, department chairs, and job candidates in dual-career couples as they proceed through the recruitment process.

Capital Resource Network

UC Davis ADVANCE has received a supplemental NSF award to support the development of the Capital Resource Network (CRN) to facilitate the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty. The CRN program is based in the Office of Academic Affairs and will focus on the integration of spouses and partners of recruited faculty into the regional workforce and community life. 

Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC)

The Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) The Northern California Higher Education Recruitment Consortium provides the largest higher education job board in Northern California, listing all open faculty, staff, and executive positions at 35 Northern California colleges and universities.

The sole aim of HERC to help the most diverse and qualified candidates find the right jobs at our institutions. Member institutions are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the recruitment process and providing a work environment sensitive to work/life balance.  HERC facilitates employment decisions that involve two careers and offer state of the art dual career search technology.

Higher Education Dual-Career Network (HEDCN)

The Higher Education Dual Career Network (HEDCN) is an informal network of individuals working at institutions of higher education around the world on issues related to faculty and/or staff dual career recruitment. Our current member institutions, include universities not only from the United States, but also from Canada and Germany. Joining the HEDCN is free. Click here for the membership form.
