Systemwide policies to promote work-life balance

Family accommodation is fundamental to an equitable and productive academic environment. The University of California has established policies and programs to assist faculty and other academic appointees in balancing the demands of work and family. 

Family friendly policies and issues. The University of California has established policies to express its commitment to a workplace culture supportive of family care-giving responsibilities.

Programs. Generally, all academic appointees are eligible for time off to participate in school or day care activities per the California School Partnership Act, benefits associated with work-incurred illness, and if available on a specific campus, a catastrophic leave sharing program.

Resources. There are a variety of programs and resources to support academic appointees.
