UC Davis ADVANCE CAMPOS Cafecito Community Gatherings
Davis, CA
The UC Davis ADVANCE Center for the Advancement of Multicultural Perspectives on Science (CAMPOS) Initiative hosted two Cafecitos (coffee breaks) on October 31, 2014 and December 12, 2014. Participants took a break from the work day to engage in lively discussions on the recent Nature and Scientific American Special Issue Editorial on Diversity, and how embracing diversity is key to doing good science, as well as the article “Diversity in Science: Where are the Data?” by Fred Guterl.
“I enjoy the “Cafecitos” because in my opinion, “meet-and-greet” activities are part of career development and mentoring experience that we all need. It is also an opportunity to get in touch with CAMPOS and ADVANCE leadership and staff. It is also very refreshing to experience, first hand, their dedication and support.” Lillian Cruz-Orgengo, Assistant Professor of Anatomy, Physiology and Cell Biology
