Sophie Barbu is the Program Manager for the UC Davis ADVANCE Program. She is responsible for ADVANCE administrative oversight, Strength Through Equity and Diversity (STEAD) workshop coordination, data analysis, event management and coordination, website management, and ADVANCE reporting support. Ms. Barbu also serves as a member of the Status of Women at Davis Administrative Advisory Committee (SWAADAC) and Child and Family Care Administrative Advisory Committee (CFCAAC) which are advisory bodies to the Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources. In 2017, Ms. Barbu received the competitive UC Women’s Initiative for Professional Development Award. 

Previously, she served as UC Davis TRiO Grants Program Assistant (2012-2013), and as Senior Program Coordinator for a large international public health organization, University Research Co., LLC, on several multi-million dollar federally-funded programs that helped international communities access health services (2008-2012). She received her B.A. in International Relations from American University in Washington, DC.
